INSTRUCTION



PROJECTS

For this project, we were told to create whatever project we like based on the 17 sustainable development goals. In this project, we can do anything we want, and best to explore the area that is out of our own fields. Before that, this was a group project but now it turns into an individual project,the project workload is quite heavy, the challenge here is how do we manage our own schedule. 

After doing some research, i decided to go with the 'Climate Action'. This goal is about to take urgent action to combat climate change. So why i choose this because i found that Malaysian is not familiar with climate change, and most of us haven't realize how serious this problem is, so i dedice to go on a project with Target 13.3 : " Improve education,awarness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation,impact reducation and early warning"

I want to challenge myself so i then decided to design a card game. Which included card design, illustrations, character design, packaging design and website design. As an entertainment student, this is quite challenging but i feel really excited to do it.

The gameplay is refering to the Exploding Kittens. My target audiences is the children, i think that we should build knowledge since young. Besides, not only children but aldults can play too.

Here is the proposal, which will be including more details of my project.

Card Design

After having a direction, i start to further research on my project. Then starting to planning out what to be include. There will be 56 of cards so i need to draw 56 different illustration. But before designing the card i need to come out the main characters. I decide to create 5 characters 1 is the bad guy the rest is the good ones. 

Character Design:

At first my idea is to create a crayon art style (attempt 1) for the character, but after i put it into the AI with the card, it is weird and not working, so i change it into the 2D graphic style (attempt 2).

But i'm still not statisfy with it so i decide to change another art style now

Card Layout:

the card layout has to be children friendly so i need to make everything really easy to understand. Here is the 1st attempt which i want to play with the color, but fail:

Final design

Because my goal is to let the children learn while playing, so there will be questions and answer beside the card. Of course there will be a related illustrations to let the children have a better understand on what is going on. Picturea are easier to let children understand then words.

Packaging design:

Packaging is the bigest challenge for me, i had work it for 2 weeks because i have no idea how to make a good packaging i have go through many attempts but i will shows few here:

After that, i found that maybe i can take some vintage elements (90s) because my characters are based on the 90s cartoon style, so many the packaging can have some vintage elements on it. So i add the border, the 'ribbon'title and so on:

Website Design: 

Finally, the website design. In the website, there will be 5 pages : home page, About us, Heroes profile, the gallery and the e-manual. Instead of a physicall manual, maybe a digital manual is more interesting, the user can visit the website through scaning the qr code on the packaging.
